As part of an effort to address the global youth unemployment crisis, The GroundTruth Project and the Global Center for Youth Employment will in February launch “YouthVoices” – a pioneering digital storytelling initiative supported by RTI International, the Ford Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation.
The launch event will kick off with a panel of expert digital journalists including Hillary Frey (Fusion), Elizabeth Plank (Mic.com), and Wesley Lowery (The Washington Post), and will be moderated by Charles Sennott (co-founder of The GroundTruth Project and GlobalPost.com).

The event will also feature youth leaders from global unemployment hotspots in an interview with Steve Grove, the Director of Google’s News Lab.
Amplifying the voices of youth has the power to inform policymakers, compel public action, and ultimately connect more young people to jobs.
The YouthVoices initiative will put young people at the center of the conversation on youth unemployment, thereby reengineering the international community’s response to the jobs crisis. A new storytelling platform will feature the compelling multimedia stories of young people grappling with economic challenges by inviting millennials from around the world to share their own experiences with employment and entrepreneurship.
Amplifying the voices of youth has the power to inform policymakers, compel public action, and ultimately connect more young people to jobs. This effort will also form a database for qualitative research on youth and employment.
From this platform, a panel of judges will select top entrants and pair them with emerging international journalists to develop their submissions for publication with GroundTruth publishers like The Atlantic, ABC News/Fusion, Huffington Post, PRI’s The World and PBS NewsHour.
