It’s already the longest war in American history, and the end is nowhere in sight. Though President Obama vowed to draw down the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, in March he announced 10,000 troops will remain through 2015. Over the last five years, photographer Ben Brody has documented the absurdities of the slow-motion handover of military operations to Afghan forces, documenting the toll of long war on American soldiers and the Afghan people.
