Before US troops arrived in Afghanistan in 2001, the harsh rule of the Taliban forbade girls’ education. Today nearly 8 million Afghan girls attend school, but this success hangs in the balance as the US prepares to leave Afghanistan. Over the last three years, documentary filmmaker Beth Murphy has immersed herself in one school in the village of Deh’Subz, offering a rare glimpse inside the hopes and fears of the students, teachers and administrators.
