The GroundTruth Project is pleased to announce the promotion of Rachel Rohr to managing editor and Kevin Grant to executive editor.
In his new role as executive editor, Kevin Grant will launch GroundTruth’s Washington, D.C. bureau to infuse the organization’s work with more policy reporting and to expand partnerships and events. He will continue to lead the organization’s coverage around religion, inequality, youth and technology.
Grant co-founded GroundTruth with founder and executive director Charles Sennott in 2014. He was previously the senior editor of Special Reports at GlobalPost, and his work has been recognized by the Edward R. Murrow, Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University, Religion News Association and Online News Association awards. He holds an M.A. in Online Journalism from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School, where he was a Dean’s Scholar and has since put together reporting fellowships in Egypt, Burma, India, Indonesia, France, Morocco, Greece and the U.S.
As managing editor, Rachel Rohr will lead GroundTruth’s daily editorial operations and a new, US-based reporting initiative to launch this fall. She’ll also continue to oversee its award-winning podcast.
Rohr joined GroundTruth in 2016 as its digital editor and the managing producer of the GroundTruth Podcast. She also served as an editor for GroundTruth’s climate change and Women in Tech reporting projects. Before joining GroundTruth, Rohr oversaw digital and social media at the NPR Show Here & Now, produced at WBUR in Boston. In 2014, she won a fellowship from WBUR’s iLab to produce a cross-country multimedia project focused on young voters ahead of the midterm elections. She has also been a reporter on Martha’s Vineyard, a tour guide at the Vatican and a liveaboard sailor. She has a degree in journalism from NYU.
