A year after Jim Foley’s murder, working toward a culture of safety in journalism

One year after his murder shocked the world, the family of American freelance journalist James Foley spent the day in quiet prayer and remembrance of him as a son, a brother and an uncle. And so it is also a time for us at The GroundTruth Project, and everyone else engaged in the struggle to tell hard stories, to reflect on the kind of work Foley did, as well as the lessons that can be taken to reduce the chances that young journalists will meet a similar fate.
